I am Here to Help Others

Functional Literacy is the ability to read road signs and newspapers, to understand medical information from your doctor or pharmacist, understand government or school documents, calculating a tip or the number of board feet required to build a fence.  Functional Literacy is about having a high enough level of skill in reading, writing and numeracy so you can cope well in everyday adult life.  It is not just about coping - but how well you cope.  Literacy Matters!  Don't let roadblocks stop someone you know from their dreams!

If you know someone who may be experiencing some of the problems as seen in the video, you have come to the right place.  Literacy is not a sign of intelligence but rather a skill that can be built upon, and improved upon like playing basketball, using a hula hoop, or riding a bike.   Low literacy can be a hindrance to finding successful employment, lifelong learning, understanding doctor's advise, or keeping up with the modern society.
